“The Seven Principles”
The project i completed before starting my final major project was called Negotiated Study. This was where we could choose roughly what type of project to do in the first time with guidance from our tutors all the way.My project was based on the Seven Principles of Spiritualism and fitted in with the brief specifications of text and image combined. The final outcome was a series of 4 prints that i hand cut in lino and printed onto card and presented in a customised folder that i had added hand Letterpress that outlined the titles of the individual prints.
Overall i was pleased with my Final Pieces and how professional the outcome was.My tutors commented on that the use of the folder and the near presentation meant it looked professional. My experimentation using different paper and compositions with the prints gave me ample choice when deciding on the final pieces and how i should present them. I particularly think the rounded edges to the prints gave them a professional edge and has made me realise its the little touches that can bring artwork from a great piece of artwork to an excellent piece of artwork.
Learning curves from this particular project include to not to be afraid and just dive right in with prints and not be so precious about experimentation. Below i have added a picture of some of my experimentation work with gold leaf.
Critically evaluating my work makes me aware of the flaws within the final pieces. In my evaluation written by the tutors they commented that some of the prints were a bit simplistic and some further experimenting could of upped the level of complexity.
I will be taking spiritual idea further for the Final Major Project and will be starting my research from today! very exciting things to come and i can’t wait to get stuck in.
